1. Check the Care Label:
Prior to washing, review the care label to ascertain if dry cleaning is recommended over machine or handwashing for certain cashmere items.
2. Handwash in Cold Water:
Fill a clean sink or basin with cold water and add a small quantity of mild detergent or baby shampoo. Submerge the garment and gently agitate it for a few minutes, avoiding excessive rubbing or scrubbing.
3. Rinse Thoroughly:
Drain the soapy water and refill the sink with fresh cold water. Swish the cashmere item to eliminate any remaining soap residue thoroughly.
4. Press Out Excess Water:
Refrain from wringing or twisting the garment, as this could harm the delicate fibers. Instead, gently press out surplus water by rolling the item in a clean towel or applying pressure with your hands.
5. Dry Flat:
Place the cashmere garment on a clean towel or drying rack, reshaping it to its original dimensions and form. Avoid hanging cashmere pieces, as this may lead to stretching or distortion.
6. Avoid Direct Sunlight:
Shield the cashmere item from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fiber damage, fading, or discoloration.
7. Store Properly:
Store folded and flat cashmere items in a drawer or on a shelf to maintain their shape. Avoid extended periods of hanging, as this may cause stretching or distortion over time.
